How do I review my Whirlpool® appliance warranty?
Upon purchase, your appliance will come with several pieces of literature, including your limited warranty. If you can’t find this sheet, you can look up your appliance’s warranty, model number and related information on the Whirlpool® Manuals & Literature Page.
What is the length of the Whirlpool® appliance warranty?
Most Whirlpool® appliance limited warranty typically last a year from the delivery date, but warranty length varies based on the type of appliance.
What coverage is provided by the Whirlpool® appliance warranty cover?
While Whirlpool® appliance warranties vary by model, yours may cover the following:
- Most of the Factory Specified Replacement Parts
- Repair labour to fix any defects in materials and workmanship that existed within one year of when you purchased your appliance.
If you need to replace your appliance, the replacement product may be covered for the remaining time of when your original unit was purchased. Keep in mind, your warranty can only be used if your appliance was installed, operated and maintained per the provided instructions.
What appliance parts does a warranty cover?
Refrigerators
Refrigerator warranties often vary by model. Generally, parts are covered under the full warranty for one year after the delivery date, whereas water filters are covered for 30 days from the delivery date. After the first year, sealed refrigeration parts on certain models may be individually covered under warranty from the second through fifth years after purchase.
The following parts may be covered for some refrigerator models:
- Evaporator
- Condenser
- Compressor
- Connecting tubing
- Dryer
Washers and Dryers
Warranty may vary by model, but washer and dryer parts are covered for one year from the delivery date.
Dishwashers
Warranties may vary by model, but your Whirlpool® dishwasher and its parts are under warranty for one year after the delivery date. For dishwasher filters, they are covered under a one-year limited warranty beginning the second year after initial purchase.
Ranges, cooktops, ovens and microwaves
Most Whirlpool® kitchen appliances are under warranty for a year after the delivery date. It covers the factory-specified parts as well as the repair labour associated with the damaged part. For other Whirlpool® appliances, parts and labour are only covered by the warranty if the appliance was installed and operated as specified by the owner’s manual and instructions. Warranties may vary by model.
What is not covered by a Whirlpool® appliance warranty?
While it’s important to understand what is covered by the Whirlpool® appliance warranty, it’s also important to familiarize yourself with what is not covered
The Whirlpool® appliance warranty only covers labour and factory-specified replacement parts.
It does NOT cover the following:
- Appliances used in non-residential, commercial or multiple-family settings
- Service to appliances damaged by improper installation or appliances installed in a way that doesn’t comply with electrical or plumbing codes
- In-home installation or instruction on installing and using your product
- Service damage caused by using parts that aren’t Whirlpool brand
- Damage caused by misuse, accident, abuse or natural disasters
- Any form of cosmetic damage
- Discolouration, rust or oxidation caused by corrosive environments
- Pick-up or delivery
- Conversion of gas products
- Repairs caused by unauthorized appliance modification
- Replacement or removal of built-in fixtures that interfere with servicing the model
How to submit a warranty claim

If you still require service, gather the following before calling for help:
- Proof of purchase
- Retailer name and address
- Your unit’s model number
- Your unit’s serial number
- A description of the problem

How to schedule service and repairs covered under warranty?
You can use the Schedule Service page to book an appointment with a service technician to repair your appliance under warranty. Another option is to call the Customer Care Number listed above.

Whirlpool offers Extended Service Plans that start after the initial warranty period.

There’s a chance you can even save money with these service plans, since they start as low1 as $34.95 and may cover service and parts for major component issues, including a faulty refrigerator compressor that may cost over $800 to repair without a plan.2 If you own several Whirlpool® appliances, you might have the opportunity to bundle to save.
